First impressions can make or break a property sale.
Here are some tips to help make that "great" First Impression:
EXTERIOR: Think Curb Appeal!
- Touch up or repaint the front entryway and trim.
- Repair or replace broken screens, shutters or doors.
- Wash all windows, inside and out.
- Keep unsightly trash barrels out of view.
- Keep summer landscaping in top-notch condition.
- Make sure winter walkways are clear of ice and snow.
INTERIOR: Think Big and Bright!
- Open all shades and draperies to allow the sun in.
- When the property is being shown, turn on lights in dark corners.
- For evening showings, turn on lights throughout the house and outside.
- Clean walls and woodwork to remove any fingerprints and smudges.
- Repair any tears in wallpaper.
- Be sure all light bulbs, appliances and doorbells are working properly.
- Clean all wall-to-wall carpeting.
- Organize closets so potential Buyer's can visualize storage space.
CLUTTER: Less is More!
- Dispose of any furniture you are not going to take with you.
- If you are a "collector" of assorted items, store them out of sight or ask a friend to keep them until you move.
